Kathryn Groleau, M.S. CCC-SLP/L
I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology at St. Ambrose University in the Quad Cities area of Illinois/Iowa. While conducting my graduate research project on cueing and its effect treating apraxia of speech, I developed my passion for working with adults and children struggling with motor planning deficits. I also developed a special interest in treating and diagnosing swallowing disorders during my clinical internship at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital where I partook in evaluation, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention of adults with brain injury. There, I gained extensive practice in dynamic assessment of swallowing disorders, as well as hands on experience treating those conditions.
Following a year of work in the DeKalb school district, I knew my passion lay in working with children and their families in their natural daily environment to promote optimal treatment tailored to each child and family’s unique circumstances and abilities. And being a wife and mother of two little ones, I have learned firsthand how essential it is to nurture young minds and hearts.
